IPOPI Clinical Care Webinars – year-round PID Education
IPOPI Clinical Care Webinars are aimed at patient group leaders, clinicians and nurses with an interest in PID clinical care management and bring together PID stakeholders from all parts of the world. Increasing the expertise around key clinical care issues in this easy and accessible way has proved to be a popular concept and we are excited to continue providing online educational programmes about new and relevant issues for the PID community.
The most recent webinar took place on September 9 and examined the current topic PID & Vaccines. The excellent speaker Professor Charlotte Cunningham-Rundles gave an overview of the issues associated with vaccinations for PID patients, as well as discussed recommended vaccines and vaccines to avoid. She also provided a generous overview of the SARS-CoV-2 vaccines currently being developed, and the implications it may have for PID patients. The feedback from this webinar has been very positive, one participant stated this was “the best webinar on vaccines in PID they had ever seen.”
So far this year IPOPI has also explored the Diagnostic tool Calculated Globulins with Professor Stephen Jolles, Hyperinflammation in PID and how it differs from COVID-19 with Professor Frédéric Rieux-Laucat and the Crossover of PID and cancer with Professor Isabelle Meyts.
Next webinar on the horizon will take place during the second half of October and dig deeper into the rare primary immunodeficiency WHIM syndrome, characterized by Warts, Hypogammaglobulinemia, Infections, and Myelokathexis. Keep an eye on IPOPI’s twitter and website to secure a place when registrations open.
All IPOPI webinars are available for re-play on IPOPITV.
