Join us for the upcoming Hard Talks session to explore the latest advancements in managing and treating X-linked Agammaglobulinemia.

The IPOPI Hard Talks series is designed for clinicians, nurses, and patient group leaders interested in PID diagnosis and clinical management. Featuring interactive discussions and a lively debate between expert speakers, “PID Hard Talks” aims to address the more challenging topics and increase expertise on crucial clinical care issues.

The session will be moderated by Martine Pergent (IPOPI President) and Dr Nizar Mahlaoui (Chair of IPOPI MAP).

Meet Our Speakers

Prof Isabelle Meyts studied medicine at the University of Leuven, Belgium in 1999. In 2007 she obtained her license in Pediatrics as well as her PhD degree with a work studying the role of Th subsets in allergic airway inflammation. She founded the Pediatric Primary Immunodeficiency Unit in UZ Leuven and is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of children affected by primary immunodeficiency. She has built expertise in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for primary immunodeficiency. Her efforts led to the recognition of the Department of Primary Immunodeficiencies as a Jeffrey Modell Foundation Diagnostics and Research Center already in 2011 and to an Edelweiss Award by the Rare Diseases Organization. She is the president of the European Society for Immunodeficiencies. Her research centres on the genetic and functional unravelling of inborn errors of immunity with a special interest in DADA2, for which she received ERC funding, and in various innate immune system disorders.

Dr Pamela Lee is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Hong Kong, specialising in clinical immunology and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). She serves as the Chief of Service in the Department of Pediatrics at The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital. Dr Lee is an honorary consultant for the HSCT service at the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital and The HKU-Shenzhen Hospital. She is actively involved in organising educational programs for primary immunodeficiencies and blood and marrow transplantation. Additionally, Dr Lee serves as a medical adviser for PID League, a primary immunodeficiency advocacy group in Hong Kong.
