Join us for the upcoming Hard Talks session to explore the advances in the management and treatment of autoimmune pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (APAP).

The IPOPI Hard Talks series is designed for clinicians, nurses, and patient group leaders interested in PID diagnosis and clinical management. Featuring interactive discussions and a lively debate between expert speakers, “PID Hard Talks” aims to address the more challenging topics and increase expertise on crucial clinical care issues.

The session will be moderated by Martine Pergent (IPOPI President) and Dr Nizar Mahlaoui (Chair of IPOPI MAP).

Meet Our Speakers

Dr Christa Zerbe is a Senior Research Clinician, Medical Director of the Clinical Patient Services Unit in the Laboratory of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health as well as the Director of the Infectious Disease Fellowship and the Transplant Infectious Disease Fellowship. Dr Zerbe currently serves as a Principal Investigator for a number of studies regarding Chronic Granulomatous disease as well as anti-cytokine antibody syndromes, and her research has been published in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Clinical Infectious Disease, and the Journal of Clinical Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Dr Zerbe is a Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America and of the Clinical Immunology Society. She serves as a reviewer for six journals. Dr Zerbe has published innovative therapies to treat anti-cytokine antibody syndromes and continues to collaborate with bench researchers to further the understanding of these acquired syndromes.

Prof Cormac McCarthy is a clinician scientist with a specific interest in the pathogenesis of rare lung diseases and interstitial lung disease. He is an expert in diffuse cystic lung disease and is the ERN LUNG lead for Ireland and runs the National Cystic Lung Disease Referral Centre for Ireland. He has published widely on LAM, BHD and other cystic lung diseases and has received funding from the HRB, Enterprise Ireland and the LAM Foundation to investigate molecular mechanisms of disease and apply AI to Imagin to identify cysts earlier.
